It's a victory 🏆for clear communication (and avoiding medical mishaps!). After a bit of a kerfuffle (okay, a major grumble) from English-speaking residents and some serious advocacy by Chaim V'Chessed, the Health Ministry has told all those Kupot Cholim (health funds, for those not in the know) that they must accept patient communications in other languages. No more Hebrew-only zone! | Remember that whole "all forms MUST be in Hebrew" thing that Meuchedet tried to pull back in December? Yeah, that didn't go over so well. Chaim V'Chessed rightly called it "unacceptable" and even "dangerous," because let's face it, medical terminology is tricky enough in your own language, let alone one you're still learning. Imagine trying to explain a throbbing headache or the specifics of your kid's rash in a language you're not fluent in! So, kudos to everyone who raised their voices – now everyone can communicate with their doctors without fear of a medical miscommunication meltdown! | | What's up | Fundraiser Focus 🎁 | Sunday 2/23/2025 | 🍽️Bnos Leah Prospect Park 91st Annual Dinner | Kol Yaakov Hall | 1703 McDonald Ave | donations can be submitted at: here | 🍴The Cheder 32nd Annual Dinner | Ateres Chynka Hall | 129 Elmwood Ave | 718-252-6333| 5:30 pm🍴 | 🎬 Events 👋 | | Sunday 2/23/25 | 🦜 🦜 Motzei Shabbos Learning Grand Event (Parrot Show) | Knesses Bais Avigdor | 1720 Avenue J | (718) 440-7226 | Wednesday 2/26/2025 | Yad Batya L'Kallah Auction | 1334 East 24th Street | Home of Blimie Zeb |12:00-3:00 | Click here for more info | Thursday 2/27/2025 | Yad Batya L'Kallah Auction | 1771 East 24th Street | Home of Joyce Zebede |12:00-3:00 | Click here for more info | Friday 2/28/2025 – - Shabbos 3/1/2025 | The Traveling Chassidim | Kingsway | Kabbalas Shabbos - Hallel | Friday Night Dinner & Kiddush Lunch (reservations required) | click here for reservations | $$ 🍷 | Saturday 3/1/2025 | 🎶 🎵 Kol Haneshomo | Young Israel Beth El of Boro Park | 4802 15th Ave | 8:00 pm | Click here | $$ 🎵 🎵 🎶 🎶 | Monday 3/17/2025 | 👩For women only 👩| Shaindy Plotzker LIVE 2025 2nd Show - Benefiting EFRAT | Mon Mar 17, 2025 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM EDT | Kings Theatre 1027 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn | | $$ 🎭| Click here | Nothing in this section is sponsored. If he touches wine you are forbidden to drink it; the bread he bakes is like the bread of a non-Jew; the food he cooks is like the food cooked by a non-Jew. "Publicly" means in the presence of ten Jews and it is not necessary that he actually desecrates the Shabbos in their presence, but [even] if they know of the desecration it is considered public. This law is derived from the Talmud and poskim. The Talmud asks, "Was not the incident of Queen Esther public knowledge?" The Peri Megadim ruled that "publicly" means in the presence of ten Jewish men, or when the desecration is public knowledge. | Therefore the prophet offers praise and says, "Fortunate is the man who does this, and the son of man who maintains this, he who preserves the Shabbos from desecration etc." The prophet describes the reward of one who keeps the Shabbos in accordance with Halachah, and honors it and delights in it to his utmost ability. He will be rewarded in this world besides the great reward reserved for him in the World to Come, as it is said: "If you restrain your feet [from going out of the techum] and abstain from doing your business on My holy day and you proclaim Shabbos a delightful day, and the sanctified of God, honored, and honor it by not engaging in your weekday activities, and abstain from pursuing your business affairs and (from) speaking words [pertaining to your weekday needs]; then you will delight yourself before Hashem, and I will cause you to ride over the heights of the earth, and will nourish you with the inheritance of Jacob, your father, for the mouth of God has spoken." | Kitzur Shulchan Aruch, trans.
