Ever wanted to tell the city exactly how to spend its money? Well, grab your laptops, pens, or even that dusty old fax machine, because CB14 is asking YOU to help shape Brooklyn’s future (Fiscal Year 2027, to be precise 📅). The Community Budget Recommendations Survey is open now, and they want your wildest, wisest, and maybe slightly wacky ideas before Friday, September 5, 2025.

Here’s the deal: every year, NYC’s 59 community boards send City Hall their wish lists—capital projects, expense budget needs, and maybe a plea for better pothole patrol 🚧. You can fill out the survey online, by email, by mail, or even by fax (yes, apparently those still exist 📠). Then, on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 6:45 PM, CB14 will host the Budget Battle Royale—also known as the public hearing—at the East Midwood Jewish Center on Ocean Ave. Expect passionate speeches, neighborhood pride, and at least one person demanding “more benches and more shade for our seniors!” 🌳🪑

Hey New Yorkers 🗽— scammers are at it again! This time they’re sliding into your texts 📲 with fake messages about traffic tickets 🚔, E-ZPass fees 🚗💨, or suspended driver’s licenses 🪪.

These fraudsters create “spoofed” websites that look just like the official DMV or toll pages 🎭—but instead of helping you renew your license, they’re trying to snatch your personal info 💳🔒.

Governor Hochul put it bluntly:

“While I’m putting money in your pockets, scammers are trying to take it out. Enough is enough!” 💥

🚫 How the Scam Works

You get a text saying your license is about to be suspended ⏳ or your E-ZPass is in danger 🚧.
The message demands you pay immediately ⚡.
The link takes you to a phony site pretending to be DMV/E-ZPass.
You enter your info… and boom 💥 identity theft.

🕵️‍♀️ Red Flags to Watch For

Threats or urgent “act now!” messages ⏰
